K-12 Outreach
To protect the privacy of K-12 students, this section has limited photos, but my outreach activities include:
- Volunteering at the annual Girl Scout Climate Challenge at Rice University (led by Dr. Sylvia Dee). I created the Flood Relay Race (bottom left and center), a high-energy activity that helps students understand why warmer air holds more moisture. Students with mobility challenges or those who prefer not to run can cheer on their teammates or serve as the “Flood Watcher,” signaling when their team wins the relay. Garden activities also include a scavenger hunt (top right – held indoors this year due to cold weather) where students learn about native flora and fauna, as well as estimating carbon capture by measuring tree circumference (bottom right; Dr. Tina Seeger pictured).

- Leading a rotating tank experiment at the Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences Open House at Rice University (pictured below on the left)
- Guest lecturing at both the Young Women’s College Prep Academy (pictured below on the right) and James E. Taylor High School and offering insights on life in academia
- TAing for a 1-week Climate Justice Storytelling Workshop for high school students hosted by the Center for Environmental Studies at Rice University
